Illustrant le succès d’une dynamique collective, Toulouse a été choisie pour accueillir la 8e édition d'ESOF (EuroScience Open Forum), la plus grande rencontre interdisciplinaire sur la science et l’innovation en Europe, qui aura lieu du 9 au 14 juillet 2018. EuroScience et le ministère de l’Éducation nationale, de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche l'ont annoncé le 1er décembre 2014 : Toulouse décroche ainsi le label de « Cité européenne de la Science » pour l’année 2018 et permet à la France d’organiser ce forum pour la première fois.
L’Equipe ESOF 2018, en accord avec EuroScience, avait préparé trois propositions de motto pour les rencontres européennes de la science (ESOF EuroScience Open Forum) qui auront lieu à Toulouse en 2018, illustrant le thème de la Science adapté aux atouts de notre ville.
After Stockholm, Munich, Barcelona, Turin, Dublin, Copenhagen and Manchester, the 8th EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) will be held between 9 and 14 July 2018 in Toulouse, in the south-west of France. The biennial interdisciplinary European event dedicated to Science and Innovation will bring together scientific, economic, political communities and general public to debate recent advances in science and their impacts on society.
ESOF 2018 is constructed around the motto "Sharing science: towards new horizons". The event will be divided into six different sections: "Science", "Science Policy", "Science to Business", "Careers", "Media & Communication" and the festival "Science in the City". Scientific sessions will focus on four cross-cutting themes: "Risk and safety", "Inequalities", "Gender issues", "Ethics" and ten thematic areas:
- Sustainable cities, sustainable living
- Global change: challenges and opportunities
- Science policy and transformation of research practice
- Frontier research and exploring extremes
- Health in our societies
- Understanding divided societies
- New trends and technologies in transport
- The use/mis-use of research and scientific advice
- Sharing knowledge
- A digital world

Calls for projects for ESOF 2018 are running!
The call for "Scientific Sessions" is prolonged until 23 June 2017. Make one or more proposals and take the opportunity to present your ideas, projects and expertise. ESOF 2018 will be a unique place for "sharing science” with international public across all scientific domains!
We are pleased to announce that the call for Initiatives for the Science in the City Festival has been launched! This Festival, dedicated to the general public, will be held from 7 until 15 July 2018. This open call invites all the related actors (associations, museums, researchers, artits, ...) to propose their events about science or innovation and take part of the Festival programme. The deadline for submission for this call for initiatives is 30 September 2016.
"Careers" and "Science to Business" sessions calls will be open from end of June until October.
